Eliashib was the High Priest in the time of King David in the Holy Scriptures. He helped Nehemiah rebuild the walls of the local communities when the city was in shambles. The name Eliashib means God Restores. Taking this name, we declare with our creative and innovative initiatives that God is Restoring the Gates of Our Communities.

As a not-for-profit community based organization, we get the opportunity to serve typically low-income, underserved neighborhoods that have experienced significant disinvestment. While we are most commonly celebrated for developing affordable housing and our martial arts program, we are involved in a range of initiatives critical to community health such as economic development, sanitation, streetscaping, neighborhood planning projects, and oftentimes even provide education and social services to neighborhood residents.

Eliashib is motivated by the belief that communities characterized by racial, economic, and cultural diversity are the ideal, but such diversity can be undermined by a lack of safe, decent, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. Our work is intended to ensure that all people, but especially people of limited incomes, have the ability to enjoy the benefits of living in stable and diverse communities of opportunity.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our local communities by working with citizens, community leaders, and city officials to create and sustain quality affordable housing & livable neighborhoods & foster economic self-sufficiency.
